Luxury Personally Defined, by PJ Wade
When and where do you give yourself time to listen to nothing
and to think about what drifts into your over-stimulated mind?
... As research for my next book, I visited Poets Cove on
Pender Island, British Columbia (BC) to explore their fractional
offering, While there, I was struck by how a physical setting
and the time to enjoy it has become a luxury in today's frantic
world. It also became clear that, tainted by recessional thinking,
we may ignore the replenishing power of a mental holiday as
a starting point for turning this "lemon" economy
into something decidedly palatable. Yes, they tell us the
recession is over, but what will shift your thinking into
a creative forward mode?

May 16, 2009 - Timebenders Rocked the Night
Away!!
And they danced! And they danced! What a night it was
on Pender Island when the Timebenders took over Saturday
evening on the May long weekend, at Poets Cove Resort,
to celebrate Poets 5th anniversary! Over 400 people
rocked the night away to this all time favorite band.
With more than 20 amazing costume changes, hilarious
impersonations and 50 years of hits, their ‘Rock
Down Memory Lane’ was an explosive, interactive,
high energy show that truly had everyone on the dance
floor.
The stage was set outside on Syren’s patio, the
BBQ was sizzling, the drinks were flowing and the evening
was perfect. Even the weather smiled on the event, and
the ocean and sky provided a beautiful backdrop as the
sun went down.
The resort and the marina were full to capacity, drawing
people from Calgary, Victoria, Vancouver and of course
from our own paradise here on Pender.
Poets Cove continues its month long anniversary celebrations
with an upcoming First
Nations inspired dinner theatre on Friday, May 29th
. Drawing on local talent, the performance will feature
an encounter with Northwest Coast Mask Dance, Anishanabea
ritual and the art of sacred movement. It is presented
by Victor Reece and Sharon Jinkerson-Brass of Big Sky
Multi Media Society and proceeds are shared with this
society.
Our own executive chef, Steve Boudreau, has created
a dinner inspired by a First Nations
feast for the event, featuring smoked corn soup finished
with Dungeness crab and basil, BC cedar plank salmon,
wild berry tart & more.
