This small Gulf Island is home to many talented artists - and dozens of beautiful galleries featuring paintings, photography, jewellery, glassware, pottery, wearable art and antiques. A detailed list of Pender Island art galleries can be found in The Pender Island Guide. Since many galleries operate out of the artists’ homes, we recommend calling the galleries ahead to confirm hours or make your appointment.

We highly recommend checking out the following gallery shops for your viewing pleasure:

Cove Art Gallery

Enjoy local talent without ever leaving Poets Cove. We support local artists and their craft by displaying works by featured artists throughout our resort. Currently featured is Sharron Cuthbertson’s works of art and photography.

Blood Star Gallery

Located on South Pender Island and a nice country walk from the resort, this gallery is named after the illusive sea star sometimes seen in the Salish Sea and features the works of Susan Taylor and Frank Ducote.

Red Tree Gallery

Operated by the Pender Island Artisan Cooperative, Red Tree Gallery features works by several local artists and hosts several events throughout the year.

Swirl a glass of locally produced wine at this beautiful organic vineyard that reaches from the edge of the beach to the slopes of Mount Menzies.

For a traditional game of golf, Pender Island Golf & Country Club features a challenging nine-hole course with gorgeous views, a golf shop, putting green, club rentals and a bistro. For a game with a few twists and different rules, check out the Golf Island Disc Park.

Take to the trails and find yourself a little spot of heaven. From leisurely walks to full-on hikes, you can find a complete trail guide here. Bikes are not allowed on any island trails, so if you decide to venture out on two wheels, you must stick to the roads.

Explore the pristine ocean waters around Pender Island. Water activities at Poets Cove Resort and Spa include kayak rentals, boat rentals and scuba diving. Or, take a deep-sea excursion with one of our tours or charters.

Pender Island is bursting with wild life and the island is home to several tour outfitters and charter companies just itching to get you out on the water for the experience of a lifetime. Take your pick and go whale watching, wildlife viewing, boating, fishing, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking. Brochures detailing the area’s tour and charter options are available at our front desk.

Driftwood Centre is Pender Island’s largest shopping district and host to the area’s essential town services, main grocery store and specialty shops. Hope Bay on North Pender Island is a unique historical site with an eclectic collection of shops and services, and no trip to Pender Island is complete without stopping in at Nu to Yu, a funky little thrift store operating here for more than 40 years.

Annual Hope Boat Days

Held each year on the Canada Day long weekend (July 1), Hope Boat Days is a creative boutique-style festival showcasing local musical acts and handmade wooden watercraft in Pender Island’s Hope Bay.

Pender Island Fall Fair

With changing themes each year, the Pender Island Fall Fair is a fun community event with a great BBQ, kids’ activities, live music and dancing into the night. Happening in the dog days of August, it’s a great way to wrap up the summer.
