The Chocolate Lilies of Brooks Point

By Barry Mathias, Seaside Magazine 04/2013

On South Pender, a remarkable waterfront acreage has been preserved for the future use of residents and visitors by the generosity of the Brooks family. Known as Brooks Point, this reminder of how the islands were before development is where orcas swim close to the rocky knolls and where a meadow and the remnants of a Gary Oak eco system provide the ideal habitat for Chocolate Lillies. Thanks to the efforts of local islanders and prominent local business the survival of this colony seems secure…

Janeece to be Pampered with Parents on Valentine’s Day at Poets Cove, Pender Island, Before Going to Variety Club Fundraiser in Vancouver

The penny is going out of circulation starting today, but that is not going to stop Jeneece Edroff from continuing to collect millions from pennies. She has been collecting pennies since she was seven years old, and within the next seven years she had raised over one million dollars for Variety, the Children’s Charity. ... Jeneece’s dream to build a house on Vancouver Island that would support families with medical needs was realized one year ago, in January 2012, when Jeneece Place opened.

Walter Kohli, manager of Poets Cove Resort and Spa, Pender Island, has donated a special Valentine’s Day package to Jeneece and her parents. On Thursday, February 14, the family will arrive to be pampered at Poets Cove, including five special treatments and an overnight stay. While there, she will be presented with another hoard of pennies. Then, on Friday, they will indulge in the facilities until evening when they travel to Vancouver. On Saturday, February 16, Jeneece again lends her support to Variety The Children’s Charity with Jeneece’s Penny Drive.

Luxury Personally Defined

By JP Wade, The Realty Times Online (11/22/2009)

As research for my next book, I visited Poets Cove on Pender Island, British Columbia (BC) to explore their fractional offering. While there, I was struck by how a physical setting and the time to enjoy it has become a luxury in today's frantic world. ... To take a break, seek out a definite change from the familiar. For instance, a 40 minute ferry ride from the BC Ferry Terminal at Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island and you're on North Pender Island, which is joined to South Pender Island by a short, picturesque, one-lane bridge. The winding road to Poets Cove Resort & Spa takes you through towering forests and past one-of-a-kind waterfront recreational homes, rugged rocky shorelines and pastoral farm fields until at the last curve the view opens up to reveal colourful arts and crafts buildings on the hillside sloping down to the inlet of Bedwell Harbour.
